The J.R. King Group, Inc. view

hear our thoughts

Do not think just about software implementation but think about how you would ideally go about making a big decision in your personal life.

Holding all things constant, you would love to dedicate 100% of your time to 'thinking' about the decision in front of you.  Thinking is planning.  However, what you just thought is the next step.  It's not the plan.  The greatest fallacy of life is that if you think about the next step, you must have a plan.  But you don't, you just have the next step, albeit thought out.

You know you are saying to yourself, "but I can multitask and handle multiple projects simultaneously".  You are not wrong; you can handle multiple decisions/tasks/projects at the same time.  Are you 'thinking" equally though?  Based on delivery date, escalation, need, voice, etc., you will undoubtably prioritize your thinking focus on that task.

What is inevitably the end result is that you have successfully addressed the immediate need, but now your 'thinking' about the other task(s), and they are behind.  This now causes constraint to 'think' about the next task, however you are, in no uncertain terms, at an absolute constraint to 'think' about it.

This is the credo of The J.R. King Group, Inc.

If you want to do a job well, give it your all.  If you have a resource that you did not without absolute authority, give them the bandwidth to dedicate 100% of their 'thinking' to your project, you are setup for failure.
